The young college football season has taught us that the Southeastern Conference is still dominant. With six teams in the Associated Press Top 25, the SEC illustrates that it is the best conference in college football.
Alabama looks primed for a third straight BCS Championship run.
Johnny Football is still Johnny Football, electrifying crowds all over the country. Georgia and LSU played an instant classic Saturday afternoon.
The only real surprise this season in the SEC has been South Carolina’s star Jadaveon Clowney.
Clowney, who many experts predict to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, has been a proverbial non-factor after four games, with only 12 tackles and two sacks.
The way it looks now, the SEC will likely have its eighth straight BCS Championship.
Diverting from the SEC, the Baylor Bears have shown that they are still dangerous.
After RG3 left Baylor in 2011, many people thought that Baylor would fall back into obscurity back in Waco, Texas.
The Bears have proven most experts wrong the past two seasons, and are now ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll.
The Bears are scoring close to 70 points per game, and Baylor is peaking at the right time.
Last year, Baylor played West Virginia and lost in an offensive shootout, losing 70-63.
Baylor will look for some revenge on the Mountaineers Saturday and it will likely get ugly.
Notre Dame seems to be taking a different path than Baylor, and this one really hurts. Being a lifelong Fighting Irish fan, and seeing Notre Dame out of the AP Poll and likely playing as the underdog to No. 22 Arizona State Saturday. Notre Dame’s season hangs in the balance.
With linebacker Manti Te’o getting “catfished” last year, starting quarterback Everett Golson being suspended from the university for “academic violations” and losses to Michigan and Oklahoma, Notre Dame has been left to only wonder, what now?
The next three weeks will reveal what kind of character Notre Dame has and whether or not the team has lost the “fighting” spirit that the 2012 Notre Dame squad possessed.
The start to the college football season has also shown that Louisville was overrated.
Junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was supposed to be the Heisman frontrunner after last year’s rout of the Florida Gators in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The Cardinals are the golden boys of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the newly formed conference after the Big East disbanded.
It is now evident that the ACC is easily the weakest conference in college football.
