Is it too early to start becoming consumed by pumpkin everything? I don’t think so.
It’s only 11 days into September, but I could feel this season coming faster than expected.
You can use pumpkin in so many ways such as carving, table decoration, name of a band – Smashing Pumpkins – but most importantly, food items.
Now normally I’m not a fan of sweets, but during the fall I can’t help but eat everything that involves pumpkin.
Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin gobs – whoopie pie to some – pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin coffee and pumpkin seeds – I’m sure that threw you off.I think I proved my point.
I not only obsess over pumpkin foods, but also the fragrance. The other day I went to Wal-Mart and I spent roughly 20 minutes deciding on which pumpkin candle to get. It’s not a joke when I use the word obsess.
If you’ve ever been to a Bath and Body Works you’ll know that it is famous for seasonal smells, especially fall ones. That store does not help my obsession or my bank account. When I was at the mall the other day, I noticed the “sweet cinnamon pumpkin” and “pumpkin cupcake” I nearly passed out from joy.
The fact that pumpkin is effective in scent appeal as well as the taste makes it that much better. I’m going to go out a limb and say it’s perfect.
I’m not exactly sure how this obsession even got started. It’s not like I was deprived from any pumpkin flavored anything when I was a child or anything. There’s just something about fall that makes me love every aspect about it.
Needless to say pumpkin and I are maybe dating.
When I wrote this column I pictured myself as Charlie Brown in “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” considering I’m just as enthusiastic and eager for this time of the year.
I hope my roommates are ready for numerous trips to the pumpkin patch and fruit farm because I most definitely am, if you couldn’t tell.
To me, there’s nothing better than ending my night with my pumpkin candle light, watching “Breaking Bad” and spoiling myself with something of a pumpkin flavor until I myself turn into a pumpkin.
Pumpkin is not quite as good as bacon, but during the months of September-November I will praise it as if it is.
By Thanksgiving I will never want to touch anything pumpkin again, but my bingeing is always worth it because who eats pumpkin pie in the middle of May?
