Vice President of Academic Affairs: Ian Pacholec
What experience do you already have with SGA?
Right now, I’m a freshman class representative. Last semester, I was a chair on the Academic Affairs Committee.
Why are you running for Vice President of Academic Affairs?
Because I was on the committee last semester, I really just want to expand on that and become not just a chairperson but the representative in charge of what goes into making sure everyone’s voices are being heard at the meetings and those things are being brought up to the faculty. I want to talk to students a lot about the liberal arts classes, because those are the classes that everyone takes. Changes in those classes affect everyone.
What are your goals if you are elected Vice President of Academic Affairs?
I definitely want to make committees more active. I feel that on SGA, they are the main catalysts of activity. I would give them incentives and ask the committee members to send more reports to the VP of Academic Affairs.
Why did you decide to get involved with SGA?
At first, I didn’t really know anyone and I wanted to throw myself into as much as possible to meet more people at Gannon. I was involved in SGA in high school, so I wanted to continue on that path. Also, there were changes that I wanted to see happen.
What have you accomplished during your time on SGA so far?
Another freshman class rep and I are trying to start a carpooling group for students who want to travel home for the weekend. We have it done, but we aren’t sure if this will be the final way of organizing it. Our freshman class has done projects like getting printers for Finegan and Wehrle next semester.
Is there anything else you would like the student body to know about you?
I’m looking forward to being able to expand upon my experience with the Academic Affairs Committee.
